Charles Jenkins, 10th President
About CBTU New York (draft):
Founded in 1974, the New York chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists has been a trailblazer in setting the tone for CBTU International's mission to build a better, stronger, and more effective labor movement for ALL Black workers both at home and abroad.
CBTU New York has held stedfast to the mission of providing a strong independent voice for Black unionists, by standing up for democracy, both in the workplace and in government. Various mobilization campaigns such as the Get Out The Vote campaign, inagurated by Dennis Serrette, strengthened by Jim Bell, and spearheaded by 9th president Charles Jenkins, have been demonstrably integral to the Black unionists movement.
